Their friendship has spanned across three and a half decades - but there's one question Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly won't forget about any time soon.

The presenting duo, both 48, have worked together for decades and have been close pals since meeting on the set of CBBC's Byker Grove early in their careers. They have gone on to front show like I'm A Celebrity and Britain's Got Talent together, winning numerous National Television Awards (NTAs) in the process.

Over the years, the former actors have taken part in various interviews and being asked a variety of questions, but they have now laughed off one that they haven't been asked before. And although it hadn't ever been put to them, Ant and Dec said it's been part of speculation.

The pair spoke to Fault magazine together recently and were encouraged to share something that they had never been asked. Ant explained that whilst nobody has ever directly asked about a potentially intimate relationship between them, it has been "insinuated".

He told the outlet: "No one has ever slept together…Has anybody ever asked us that? I don't think so. There you go, no one has ever asked us if we've slept together!" Dec responded "oh," before pal Ant laughed that he didn't have to answer the question now. He added that people have "always insinuated" though, with Dec agreeing and saying it's been "speculated". He added that it's "funny".

The interview comes ahead of Saturday Night Takeaway's return later this week. The ITV show will back on our screens this weekend for its final series and it's been teased that there will be "high octane challenges," "hilarious" scenes and "live surprises".

ITV said ahead of the launch: "The upcoming 20th series will have loads of brand new high octane challenges, hilarious hidden camera set ups, new studio games and live surprises, but will also be a momentous magical celebration of all things Takeaway from over the years."

The live launch show is set to feature Stephen Merchant as the guest announcer, introduce the 'new little Ant & Dec and include an 'undercover' segment with Simon Cowell. The show is set to conclude with a special End of the Show Show with Becky Hill and Urban Theory.

It's been teased that over the course of the series a host of "new celebrity faces" will be taking on the role of guest announcer and every episode will "sign off in spectacular style" with some of the "biggest and best performers". ITV adds: "With a series finale to conclude the show unlike any Takeaway has ever done before, expect unmissable live entertainment from start to finish, as Saturday night's most feel-good series returns to kick start the weekend with a bang."

Saturday Night Takeaway returns on ITV and ITVX from 7pm on Saturday.
