A former McDonald's chef has revealed how the fast-food giant cooks its famous burgers. Chef Mike Haracz shares secrets from the fast-food chain on his TikTok channel, including the recipe for Big Mac sauce and its cooking process.

In a popular video, he praises a crew member for following the correct procedure while cooking the burgers. He explains: "Eight to a platen. Some stores have different types of grills different sizes so sometimes that's adjusted based on the kind of grills you have. Or if you just need to cook a couple. It's basically a big old George Foreman."

He also highlighted the importance of food safety, noting the crew member's use of blue gloves when handling raw burgers. The video, titled 'How the McDonald's burgers are cooked', has racked up an impressive 16.7 million views on TikTok.

The chef explained that each burger gets "one shot" of a salt and pepper blend once cooked. He said: "And then you scrape them off and you stack them in piles of four, like so. They'll probably clean that grill later so that it's ready to go for the next batch. And then they are going to be put in the UHC Universal Heat Cabinets so that when you order it's ready to go."

However, some folks who watched the video had issues with the cooking process and Mike's information. One person commented: "I literally have never tasted salt and pepper on a McDonald's burger in my life," while another said: "As a former McDonld's employee I can assure you that they ain't gonna clean that grill until the end of the shift."

Another ex-McDonald's worker pointed out that the person making the burgers in the video wasn't doing it quite right, saying: "I worked at McDonald's for five years. The way he put the patty down in that stack was wrong and his stacking was a mess," while another said: "Wrong. Close the platen as soon as all the patties are down. The ones on the far right have already started cooking."

However, Mike and McDonald's have their supporters as well, with one fan asking: "When do they make these so I know when to go to get the freshest frozen burger," while another admirer enquired: "Love your videos chef. Do you have a video on how to make McDonald's hot mustard?"
