Here's why the evil nurse was given the key

EVIL Lucy Letby has been given a key to her own cell in a private prison after being jailed for murdering seven babies.

The killer nurse is serving a whole life sentence without parole for murdering the newborns and trying to kill six more.

Letby, 34, can use the key to hide from other lags whenever she likes after reportedly being given it as a reward for good behaviour.

The parent of one of the babies Letby murdered told the Sunday People: "We thought they were throwing away the key.

"Now we find out that she has her own key."

A spokesman for HMP Bronzefield confirmed that some inmates at the prison are given their own keys.

Letby was moved to privately-owned category A Bronzefield from Low Newton jail in County Durham.

A prison insider said: "It’s really no different to living in a hotel."

Neonatal nurse Letby murdered babies at the County of Chester Hospital.

She was found guilty of seven counts of murder and six counts of attempted murder after a ten-month trial in Manchester.

Letby wrote a chilling confession note saying "I am evil I did this" and "I killed them on purpose because I am not good enough", the court heard.

The jury failed to reach a verdict over six counts of attempted murder - with Letby now facing a retrial over the near death of one baby.

In September the killer nurse launched an appeal against all of her convictions.

A public inquiry into Letby's reign of terror was launched in November, and could get going this autumn.

Last month Letby was struck off and stripped of all nursing credentials.

Now detectives are probing Letby's entire career, including her placement at Liverpool Women's Hospital.

More families have been told that their babies could have been killed by the evil nurse, who was snared by Operation Hummingbird.

The prosecution suggested five different motives during Letby's 10-month trial.

Evil Letby is just the fourth woman ever to be handed a whole-life prison sentence.
