A NEW waterfront museum is set to open at a Brit-favourite holiday hotspot, and it's only two hours from the UK.
While Amsterdam has a reputation for being a bit of a party hotspot, it also has several powerful and compelling attractions.
One of those is Anne Frank's House, which is a museum dedicated to the Jewish wartime diarist.
The attraction, which is considered a must-visit on any holiday to the city, will soon be joined by another powerful attraction.
Earlier this month, Dutch government officials announced plans to build a new waterfront museum that aims to tell the "whole story" of the nation's involvement in slavery.

Back in 2022, the country's caretaker Prime Minister, Mark Rutte, announced plans to pump €200million (£171million) into raising awareness of the Dutch involvement in the slave trade.
According to Dutch News, €27million (£23million) of this money will go towards the brand-new museum.
The museum will be built on Java Island, which is a narrow peninsula in the Eastern Harbour District of Amsterdam.
The location has been chosen because the site is close to water and there will be space for a park.
While not much is known about the museum, it is expected to include a knowledge centre, a children's museum and a kitchen where visitors will be able to cook together.
An open design competition will be held to find an architect for the project, with the museum slated to open in 2030.
Fleur Gräper-van Koolwijk, who is the Junior Culture Minister, told DutchNews "[This will be a place] for recognition, commemoration, healing, admission … not just for the relatives of enslaved people but for everyone."
In recent years, the popular destination has been bringing in strict new rules in a bid to clamp down on revellers.
Last year, the Dutch capital introduced its "stay away" campaign, urging tourists to consider going elsewhere if they're only planning to "let loose".
As of May last year, visitors haven't been able to smoke marijuana in the streets.

The city's mayor, Femke Halsema, has been attempting to ban tourists from cannabis-selling coffeeshops for some time.
She has also said she wants to move the red light district out of Amsterdam altogether, with a proposal to build a five-story “erotic centre” with bars and 100 small rooms.
