WAYNE ROONEY has swapped St. Andrew's for the beaches of Dubai.

The Manchester United legend was sacked from his position as Birmingham head coach at the start of January after winning just two of his 15 games in charge.

But after a trip to Old Trafford - where he caught up with darts sensation Luke Littler - Rooney has now been spotted soaking up some sun in the United Arab Emirates.

Rooney, 38, took to Instagram to share a snap of his time in the country.

While over there the Evertonian was snapped alongside National Hockey League icon Alex Ovechkin.

Ovechkin, 38, had the record for most league goals scored on four occasions and won the NHL MVP award three times.

The left winger has played for the Washington Capitals since 2005, winning the Stanley Cup in 2018.

Rooney meanwhile, won five Premier League titles, one Champions League and was named footballer of the year in 2010.

Reacting to the post, one fan said: "Legend Wazza❤️."

A second said: "Legend ????."
