MO GILLIGAN is left red-faced on The Masked Singer on Saturday when he accidentally calls Joel Dommett the wrong name.

As the judging panel gets stuck into guessing the identity of Maypole, the comedian turns to the show host to offer his suggestion and confuses him with another TV presenter.

Slipping up, but quickly realising, Mo says: “Oh, Dermot O’Leary – which is not you.”

A shocked Joel responds: “Did you just call me Dermot? You can’t even guess me, and I don’t have a mask on. You can’t even get me right. This is unbelievable!”

When Mo is left blushing, Joel gives him a taste of his own medicine by referring to him as fellow stand-up comic Babatunde Aleshe.

Joel jokes: “It’s OK, Babatunde, don’t you worry.”

This week the ITV1 show’s judging panel, which also includes Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross and Rita Ora, will be joined by guest Sir Lenny Henry.

Comedian Lenny – who has revealed he is stepping down as host of Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day telethon after 37 years to make way for new presenting talent – was last seen on The Masked Singer in 2021, when Davina correctly guessed he was the character Blob.

JAMIE Laing leaps into action in front of team captain Josh Widdicombe and fellow guest Stacey Dooley to help kick off Rob Beckett’s new comedy panel show, Smart TV.

The former Made In Chelsea star and his documentary maker teammate were pitting their wits against comedian Jon Richardson and Being Human actor Russell Tovey, led by Alison Hammond.

The show, on Sky Max and Now from February 28, sees host Rob and team captains Alison and Josh joined by famous faces each week to battle it out in trivia rounds about TV.

Also set to appear in the eight-part series will be Bridgerton’s Nicola Coughlan, Countryfile’s Chris Packham, EastEnders’ Natalie Cassidy and The Masked Singer’s Joel Dommett.

Romesh Ranganathan, Rob’s co-star on Sky comedy Rob & Romesh Vs, will also feature, as will MasterChef’s Gregg Wallace, Doctor Who’s David Tennant and SAS hard man Jason Fox.

IDRIS UP FOR SAM MORE

IDRIS Elba wil return for another high-octane run as Hijack’s Sam Nelson after Apple TV+ confirmed it has commissioned a second series, as I revealed last year.

The first outing saw businessman Sam using his negotiation skills to help a hijacked plane make a safe landing and save its passen-gers’ lives.

For the second series, Idris will be joined by Archie Panjabi, Max Beesley and Ben Miles.

The new scenario is yet to be revealed, but is unlikely to involve another aircraft.

Idris, who is also executive producer, told website Deadline: “I was floored by the audience response after season one.

“It’s top secret what new situation unfolds for Sam but I can assure you we will bring the high octane back.”
