BRITAIN is suffering from a lack of attractive middle-aged men — but is awash with hot older women.

That’s the finding of ITV show My Mum, Your Dad which helps mature single parents find love.

Producers of the dating programme, hosted by Davina McCall, have put out adverts for contestants for a second series, which is due to start filming later this year.

But after being swamped by beautiful women, they’ve struggled to find fellas who fit the bill.

TV chiefs have now issued appeals specifically targeting men.

An insider said: “Dating shows like Love Island are deluged with potential participants of both genders.

“But it seems when people get into their forties and fifties, women are confident and willing to come forward — unlike the fellas.

“It’s frustrating for the creators of the show because it was a huge hit when it debuted last year.

“Producers are hoping the most successful couple to come out of the first season will inspire more blokes to come forward.”

Roger Hawes, 58, and Janey Smith, 47, found love on the series, which aired in September, thanks to the matchmaking skills of their children.

Silver fox Roger, from Derbyshire, and blonde Janey, from West Sussex, are still together, unlike many of the show’s other couples.
