FRENCH motor firm Renault is set to wow fans with a "world first" feature that will keep their whip feeling brand new.

The motor - a Renault 5 E-Tech - will be a swanky new re-birth to the original which was released 40 years ago.

It's the first time the model will be released with an all-electric interior and is expected to be released in 2025.

The motor will come in five different colours, diamond black, midnight blue, pop green, pop yellow and artic white - with a price-stamp of £25,000.

The futuristic redesign of the old classic has a battery that will run for 250 miles before it needs to be juiced - and is adorned with nostalgic nods to the original motor including a '1972' grill covering a 3D printed storage component.

As reported by GB News, Renault design boss Gilles Vidal, said: "The older generations will relate and have a connection to the 5 but my kids are fairly young, for example, and they don’t know these old cars.

"We designed this car so it would be interesting and attractive for what it is, without needing to relate to its history."

But there's one feature that hasn't been seen on any car, ever.

In a nod to their home-country, the French firm has added a baguette holder on the passenger side, so there's no longer any need to worry about ruining the inside of your motor with mountains of bread crumbs.

Designed by French basket-maker Marguerite Herlant, the woven wicker bread holder could be one of the quirkiest features in the firm's storied history.

Gilles Vidal, said: “That was [Renault CEO] Luca de Meo’s idea. It’s funny, we often think he could be a designer."

Car fans are divided on the motor, some are excited by the unique design, while others are less impressed.

A not-so-impressed user said: "A baguette holder, Is the Emily in Paris team in charge of Renault marketing? Can't wait for the Saucisson edition."

And a second user said: "Those who approved of the design of this car should be fired immediately."

But others loved the design, this commenter said: "Why is there so much negativity here, once all cars are EVs the old dinosaur companies only have their history to give different user experience. Heritage and nationality are literally the only things that differentiates them."

Another said: "I’d have one of these as a school run or as a shopping car, even if the baguette holder may be a bit contentious for my gluten intolerant wife."

And finally, one commenter said: "I have already pre-ordered one, my very first car in 1987 was a Renault 5 TL."

Aside from the comical - and no doubt very useful - addition, the EV will land with a litter of other features.

It comes equipped with a 110kW battery, capable of hitting speeds of 63mph in less than eight seconds - and in 50 - 75 mph in under seven seconds.

The battery clutches 52 kWh, and can tow an impressive 500kg, as well as large 18-inch wheels, a width of 1,77m and a length of 3.92m.

The seats are made from recycled plastic water bottles and on the Techno version denim fabric is used on the dashboard and door panels.

Inside the stylish E-tech features a dashboard organised with a padded transverse layout and a rectangular instrument cluster with rounded edges.

The four-wheeled car takes design elements from three different models, the Renault 5 Turbo, Renault 5 and the Supercinq - and comes with an app that owners can download to learn about all 104 accessories that await new owners.

Over five millions models were sold all over the world between 1972 and 1985 and the company hopes to reach new heights with the all-electric more modern version of a previously loved car that patrolled the streets over four decades ago.

This comes after Britain's best-selling motor received a makeover - as its bosses hope to retain their most-sold crown for the third time.

Ford's Puma ST took the top spot last year as car fans parted with hard-earned dosh to call it their own.
