Capital FM DJ Roman Kemp has revealed that he is far from a rock and roll star after sharing with fans his backstage rider for the 2024 BRIT Awards.
Despite hosting the prestigious ceremony for the first time, the 31-year-old star revealed he wasn't being a diva backstage.
Roman, who fronted the show alongside Clara Amfo and Maya Jama, took to social media to reveal inside his dressing room.
In one of two posts he wrote: "If you wanted any further confirmation of what a boring bloke I am.... Here's the only thing I asked for in my BRITS dressing room." In the following post he took a picture of a clear container filled with cans of Coke and water on a bed of ice.
This comes after reports that stars of the music awards show are known for asking for bottles of alcohol including beer, sprits, wine and mixers. Making his mark as a host of the show, Roman decided to make a joke about Geri Horner's plight over allegations of her husband cheating following a series of texts that reportedly surfaced. Christian Horner is the boss of RedBull Formula One team.
BRITs academy explain why no women are nominated for huge award amid backlashWalking through the audience nearby the stage, Roman joked with a member of the crowd who had a compass tattooed on his head. And on the back of his observation, Roman said that it was "busier than Red Bulls' press office."
This is believed to be on the back of reported "inappropriate and controlling" behavior on a WhatsApp conversation that was recently leaked to the media earlier this week. However, Christian has denied all claims. Moving swiftly on, Roman was then seen sat next to singer Kylie Minogue and convinced her to do a "shoey", which is an Australian tradition of drinking a shot of alcohol from a shoe.
Keen to be a team player, Kylie took on the challenge but was later left disgusted as host Maya Jama jokingly revealed that Roman had a medical foot condition called Athlete's Foot. Roman hosted the awards show alongside Maya Jama and Clara Amfo. But aside from his humorous nature, it wasn't that long ago he revealed the reason for him quitting his role as a Capital FM radio host.
Speaking to his co-hosts Sian Welby and Chris Stark, he said: "I’ve loved every single moment of my time at Capital. The last 10 years have been amazing and hosting the legendary Capital Breakfast is the best job ever. But after almost seven years of early alarms, I’m looking forward to some lie-ins and it’s time to hand over the baton!"
In 2022, Roman revealed his plans to quit his role after being diagnosed with sleep apnoea, reportedly caused by his hectic work schedule. Speaking to the Mailonline, he explained: "My tiredness levels were debilitating, and they said to me it was because of my job and I said this is different. "
He added: "I was talking with people where I thought I was verging on narcolepsy because I was mid-conversation and would be snoring and not realising, it was very strange. The doctors told me I must wear an oxygen mask. There is absolutely nothing sexy about going back to Roman Kemp's house."
