Princess Cruises officially debuted its biggest ever cruise ship, the Sun Princess, earlier this year and there's heaps for passengers to get excited about.

It's no surprise that this was one of the most highly-anticipated new cruise ships for 2024 considering the 4,300-passenger ship will boast 29 eateries, a casino, cabanas, and elegant staterooms, as well as brand new venue Spellbound where you can find the likes of a parlour, bar, music room and theatre.

There are 2,150 swish cabins for guests to choose from too, including some lavish staterooms that come with their own cabanas and balconies - and with access to an extra-large outdoor space where there's "limited entry" so you don't need to be battling for the best seats in the sunshine.

As for the entertainment, the cruise line's gone all out. We're talking bars, lounges and restaurants, a top deck pool, varying kids' clubs, shops selling over 200 brands, and shows such as 'Vallora, A Pirate Quest' which features an 80s-themed soundtrack such as Eurythmics' 'Sweet Dreams' and Survivor's 'Eye of the Tiger'.

Meanwhile new venue Spellbound will be the home to magicians, illusionists, mysterious artefacts, surprises in themed rooms and theatrical cocktails, while the 'Dome' will be a hi-tech entertainment space inspired by Santorini complete with a 36ft-high waterfall!

There's plenty for thrill-seekers too courtesy of the adrenaline-inducing Sea Breeze Rollglider were you can soar like a bird 19 decks over the ocean, as well as other attractions including Infinite Horizon which allows you to peer over the side of the ship on moving glass walls, and net ropes courses.

You can find out more on the Princess Cruises website.

The Sun Princess isn't the only ship that cruise fans have been getting excited about this year; in January, the world's biggest cruise ship set sail on her maiden voyage. Royal Caribbean's $2billion Icon of the Seas is five times the size of the Titanic, with EIGHT neighbourhoods for passengers to explore.

However one of the biggest highlights has to be Thrill Island where you can find the the world's largest at sea waterpark with SIX record-breaking water slides, including one of the fastest at sea, epic near-vertical drops, and the first family-raft slide at sea.

Then there are the seven pools onboard, West End worthy shows, shops, restaurants and countless attractions; it's no wonder the ship has been dubbed a 'floating city' considering it can host over 7,000 passengers. The upper deck of the ship boasts plenty of impressive features including slides, a suspended infinity pool at sea and a three-storey family suite. There's also a huge theatre, cinema and casino, too.

If you're tempted to book a sailing, then you may want to be tactical when it comes to the day you part with your cash. One travel expert has warned that booking early is key - but if you miss the boat, then you may want to leave it very last minute. They revealed: "Booking well in advance or at the last minute can sometimes lead to significant discounts. Cruise lines often offer early bird promotions and last-minute deals. Savings could range from around 20-30% or more for booking early to up to 50% or more for booking late."
