Prince Andrew's bare bum will be on display in the Netflix drama Scoop – but all is not as it seems.

Actor Rufus Sewell will be stepping into the shoes of the Duke of York as his infamous BBC Newsnight is played out in a new drama on the streaming platform. Andrew, 64, sat down with Emily Maitlis back in November 2019 to discuss his relationship with convicted sex offender and paedophile, Jeffrey Epstein. During the interview, Andrew, 64, denied knowing Virginia Guiffre and denied having ever met her.

Guiffre claims she engaged in sexual activity, including intercourse, with the Duke when she was just 17. In legal documents filed in the US, she claims she was paid to have sex with Andrew. "Yes, I did receive $15,000. I don't know what equivalent that is to pounds. I received it in American dollars," she said in a 2015 legal deposition.

The Duke of York strongly denied the allegations made and claimed to have no recollection of ever meeting Ms Guiffre. The Duke paid an unknown sum to Virginia in an out-of-court settlement, on no admission of liability. Now, Sewell has opened up about playing the Duke.

One scene in the drama which is due to be released on April 5 sees the brother of King Charles standing completely naked in his bathroom. But Sewell, 56, was keen to stress that it's not his naked bum that viewers will be seeing on Friday. In a new interview, he shed light on the bum in question.

"Not that I'm ashamed of my own," he said, adding: "I get it out whenever I get the chance! But this bum was specially shipped in!" The scene comes just after the father-of-two sat down to watch the car crash interview which saw his time as one of the most senior working members of The Royal Family come to an end.

Rufus went on to tell Radio Times: "He steps away feeling he could just have it on in the background, like the Shipping Forecast. To him, it's the comforting sound of him winning through and giving them what for."

He continued: "Andrew actually has this blokey quality alongside the Windsor clenched jaw thing. If you listen to him, as opposed to King Charles, he has a lad's lad quality. He's Randy Andy who chats up the working girls when he visits the factory." It's claimed that Andrew and members of the royal household believed the interview was a success just seconds after the cameras finished rolling.

Producer Sam McAlister who secured the infamous interview, which was filmed at Buckingham Palace, claimed the royal had people around him telling him he was "amazing", adding that she believes Andrew was "profoundly sad" that the Newsnight interview ended his life as a working and popular royal.
