The coming-of-age comedy was aired from 2008 and 2010 and despite the years that have raced by, Joe Thomas is unable to forget his testicle-baring stunt in the Channel 4 program.

In the unforgettable scene, as diehard fans of the show will remember, Joe's schoolboy character Simon Cooper strutted his stuff in a fashion show, during which he wore a torn white shirt, a pair of black underwear and a top hat, while blissfully unaware of his testicle hanging out.

Speaking on Rob Beckett 's Smart TV, the 40-year-old actor joined Alison Hammond and Josh Widdicombe as he divulged details about the infamous scene, stating that he'd been left "so broken" he hadn't even tried to conceal his anatomy once the cameras stopped rolling.

Joe first revealed that he bared it all on the set of The Inbetweeners, as he refused to wear a prosthetic: "They said, 'Do you want a prosthetic testicle?' But I thought, 'That’s not exactly dignified. I mean, the show is what it is. That’s my genuine testicle."

After confirming his statement once again to an incredulous Rob, Joe had to answer Josh's question as The Last Leg and Taskmaster star asked: "between shots did you slip it back in or did you just stand there?"

Joe replied and shrugged as he remembered: "By the end of the day I was so broken that I didn’t really care whether it was out or not. I was like, 'It’s out.'"

The cult comedy has sparked two movies released in 2011 and 2014 and has made household names of Joe Thomas and his co-stars, Simon Bird (who was recently suspected of joining the Beyond Paradise line-up ), James Buckley and Blake Harrison.

Since playing the Fiat 500-driving lad, Joe moved on to several other projects, becoming a regular face on the small screen by starring in another programs in the likes of Fresh Meat, Comedy Showcase, Threesome and Chickens.

Joe has also taken part in multiple game shows such as Taskmaster, Richard Osman's House of Games, Would I Lie To You? and The Great British Bake Off.

In 2019, the Inbetweeners stars were reunited for a 10th anniversary special aired on Channel 4 and titled "Fwends Reunited", with Jimmy Carr at the helm of the reunion. The four leads were then joined by supporting cast members during the chat show but they were all met with a negative reception from both critics and fans, who were expecting a one-off episode of their favourite series.

Four years later, Jay Cartwright actor James Buckley dashed all hopes of an Inbetweeners return during an interview with Lad Bible as he explained: "They were idiots and they got what they deserved. That’s why it can’t come back – you can’t have men in their late thirties acting like they’re in sixth form and getting away with that stuff."
