Do you know what the Travelodge logo shows?

If you've ever been on a staycation break, chances are you've stayed the night in a Travelodge at least once. It's one of the most popular hotel chains in the UK, and the brand has over 580 hotels across the UK, Ireland, and Spain. But have you ever taken the time to study the hotel chain's logo?

It turns out that there are actually two different schools of thought when it comes to the brand's logo, and people can't decide what it's supposed to depict. So when you look at the image, what do you see?

A video shared on TikTok by @lueky_boi95 has left people completely baffled, as he claimed he never knew that the Travelodge logo was supposed to depict a person sleeping in a bed with a pillow and a duvet. He captioned the clip: "I was today years old when I found out the Travelodge logo is someone sleeping in bed."

Some commenters on his video insisted they'd always known as they asked him what it possibly could have been instead, but others were blown away - as they'd always believed the logo was made up of rolling hills and a sunset. One person wrote: "I always thought it was just some hills," while another commented: "I thought it was hills and a sunrise or sunset, what the f**k?"

And these people aren't alone, as there are dozens of other TikTok videos and comments discussing the very same topic. One social media user declared: "Since when was the Travelodge logo someone asleep in bed? This whole time I thought it was a hill and some mountains! HOW did it take me SO LONG to realise it's some geezer lying down, not mountains and a sunset?!"

Someone else said they "never knew" what the logo was supposed to be despite staying at Travelodge hotels for years. And even a former Travelodge employee had no idea, commenting: "I worked for Travelodge ... I didn't even know this!"

However, several other people have said the logo is supposed to be ambiguous, as it's been designed in a way that depicts both a person sleeping and a hilly landscape. One said: "It's both - that's the point!," while another added: "Travelodge. Travel + lodge. Travelling + sleeping." A third also wrote: "Isn't it meant to be both? Travel and sleeping?"
