Jonathan Majors' motion was denied

Jonathan Majors requested that the court enter judgement of acquittal, tossing aside his conviction. However, he has been denied.

Police responded to a call to his home where they found his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, slumped in a closet. During the hearing, he faced four charges, not all of which he was found guilty for.

It took four hours of deliberation over the course of three trial days for the jury to reach the decision. After the foreperson handed down the decision, Majors' sentencing was set for Tuesday, February 6. at 9:00 a.m. EST, but was suddenly postponed on the day of. In the motion, his attorney, Priya Chaudhry, argued that the prosecution provided “insufficient" evidence. She argued that their reasoning was inconsistent between chargers and, thereby, should be tossed. The motion, according to The Hollywood Reporter, reads: “A careful analysis of the trial record shows that there is quite simply no evidence that Mr. Majors acted recklessly, as opposed to intentionally (or not at all), let alone enough such evidence to support a verdict beyond a reasonable doubt that Mr. Majors committed reckless assault."

A spokesperson for the district attorney's office said in a statement to THR: “The Court has already heard and rejected the arguments supporting this motion when the defense originally raised them during the trial. The jury then convicted Mr. Majors of Assault in the 3rd Degree and Harassment in the 2nd Degree. We will respond in detail in court papers."

After the conviction, Jabbari's attorney said in a statement: "Her unwavering resolve to see this case through to the end is borne out of a desire to show other survivors and victims of domestic violence, that they too, can hold their abuser accountable. Ms. Jabbari hopes that her actions will inspire other survivors to speak out and seek justice."
