WWE 'invite' Jason Kelce to appear at WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia

Jason Kelce, the former Philadelphia Eagles centre, has a chance to make an early return to his old stomping ground at WrestleMania 40 this weekend.

WWE's flagship event is set to take place at the Lincoln Financial Field where Kelce spent the entirety of his NFL career and the two-day event has reportedly reached out to a number of big names.

Wrestling greats such as Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Randy Orton and Rey Mysterio will be taking part at the stadium that holds special importance for Kelce. Having retired from football just a few weeks ago, Kelce now has an opportunity to grace the venue in a different role.

As per Fightful Select, WWE has reached out to him about making an appearance at WrestleMania XL. Kelce was already featured in a WWE video back in December 2023. The clip showed Snoop Dogg presenting the Eagles with a gold-plated WWE Championship belt.

Holding the strap, Kelce exclaimed: "Is this the legit golden title? Oh gosh, it's got some weight to it. WrestleMania's going to be a friggin' killer, the linc's going to be going nuts. This is gonna be awesome. April 6 and 7, put it on the calendar baby."

He warned: "World champion, look out! This thing feels electric, walking around with it," whilst proudly parading around the Eagles' training grounds with the belt slung over his shoulder.

"Dude, we gotta get this to some other Philly teams. I know the Eagles are not the only team that'll appreciate this."

After Kelce's emotional retirement from the NFL, everyone is eager to see what he'll do next. He's been in talks with broadcasters about NFL commentary, but many think he has the fun personality and charisma to be a WWE wrestler, including multi-time champion The Miz.

"He could be very dangerous in a WWE ring - not only with just the athleticism and the part of the wrestling, which I think he can absolutely do," Miz told TMZ last year. "I watched him jump up at a Bills game from, like, down and jump up into a window, and I was like, "Oh my God, this guy is 300 pounds, how did he do that? That's incredible.

When asked if either Kelce brother could appear at WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia, Miz added: "I don't know, the way I look at it is more of a fan of the Kelces. I've played golf with Travis, what an incredible human being.

"Even when we were golfing I was like 'when are you coming to WWE? When are you coming to WrestleMania?

""With Jason, I've never met him, that guy has played for Philadelphia - it seems like a home run to me. Who knows? He has retired, he might just want to relax and chill out.

"Or - he'd like to come to Philadelphia. Whatever Jason Kelce wants to do, whether it is come to WWE for WrestleMania, wink, or do something in the NFL, whatever he wants to do, I think the world is his oyster."
