Actress Billie Piper has revealed her co-star Gillian Anderson has a penchant for sugary snacks as she constantly downed cans of full fat Coke while on set.

The 41-year-old mum-of-two is currently promoting Netflix's new film titled Scoop, which details the royal scandal regarding Prince Andrew. Billie plays the BBC Newsnight producer Sam McAlister, while Gillian took on the role of Emily Maitlis. Rufus Sewell plays the disgraced Prince Andrew.

During a Buzzfeed Spill The Tea segment, acclaimed actress Billie was asked if there was anything new she learned about Gillian while filming. And Billie immediately responded with "that she drinks regular Coke." Avoiding the different variations of the brand, Billie said Gillian's habit was "pretty remarkable." She added: "She loves a really sugary snack, you don't see that in many actresses."

In order to convincingly portray Prince Andrew, Rufus spent hours in make-up to undergo a large amount of prosthetics. Last week, Gillian shared a post on Instagram of her and Rufus in the make-up trailer. Gillian stood behind the actor while he was having his prosthetics applied.

Best known for her role as Agent Scully in the X Files, she captioned the post saying: "Just a straightforward shooting week (and!) Scoop is out on Netflix today!" Rufus also recently admitted that a bottom double was needed on set for the scene where he climbs out of the bath.

He told the Radio Times: "It's not that I'm ashamed of my own. I get it out whenever I get the chance – but this bum was specially shipped in." Despite its star-studded cast, critics were polarised over the portrayal of the scandal. Some claimed it was surface level as they felt the film "missed the real story", while others praised the high level performance.

Those who doubted the drama also claimed it lacked the "investigative spirit and sense of paranoia" the story demanded. The film aims to reflect the tensions behind booking the Duke of York for Newsnight. Following the broadcast in 2019 and the public backlash over his association with Jeffrey Epstein, the Duke of York, stepped down from his duties as a royal.
