Tottenham vs Nottingham Forest betting preview

When Tottenham defeated Aston Villa 4-0 at what used to be known as Fortress Villa Park, they put themselves in pole position to finish fourth in the Premier League this season.

Since then, Ange Postecoglou’s team has produced what can probably best be described as a run of indifferent performances.

Following the win at Villa Park, Spurs went to Craven Cottage and were beaten 3-0 by Fulham. They then had to come from behind to beat Luton 2-1 with an 86th-minute winner last Saturday.

And finally, in midweek, they were held 1-1 by West Ham at the London Stadium, despite having 68% of the possession.

Nottingham Forest has responded well to being dumped in the bottom three following their points deduction last month.

The Reds have picked up five points in their last three matches, with draws against Luton and Crystal Palace followed by a massive 3-1 win over Fulham on Tuesday.

Forest Head coach Nuno Espírito Santo didn’t enjoy his brief stay in charge of Spurs back in 2021. He started by winning the Manager of the Month award for August but was sacked by the beginning of November.

The Portuguese will sense an opportunity for revenge against his former employers here. He knows Spurs are under pressure, especially given their recent results, and he will be looking to take advantage of any Tottenham nerves on Sunday.

We expect Forest to try and frustrate Spurs. But they are not good enough defensively, and we can see Spurs breaking through and running out eventual winners.

Both teams to score over Spurs to win (Spreadex)

Both teams have scored in eight of Tottenham’s last ten matches. Villa didn’t find the net against Spurs, and the Lilywhites drew a blank in their 3-0 loss to Fulham. It doesn’t happen very often with this Spurs team.

Even Forest has got in on the act, with both teams scoring in their three most recent matches. Furthermore, both teams have scored in 11 of their last 14 matches. Combine both teams to score with a Spurs win for better value.

Back both teams to score and Spurs to win at 6/4 with Spreadex

Chris Wood to have over 1.5 shots (bet365)

Chris Wood has been in good form for Forest, with three goals in his last three matches. Runs like that can quickly come to an end, especially for players at clubs at the bottom of the league.

So instead of backing Wood to score. We are going for him to have over 1.5 shots at 5/6. So even if his radar is slightly off, we still have a chance of the bet winning.

Back Chris Wood to have over 1.5 shots at 5/6 with bet365

Brennan Johnson to score anytime (Sky Bet)

Brennan Johnson has been the most productive Spurs performer since the turn of the year with four goals and three assists.

He has been in good form in recent matches, finding the back of the net against West Ham on Tuesday. We think he is good value to keep his run going against his former club.

⚽ Back Brennan Johnson to score anytime at 15/8 with Sky Bet ⚽
