Chris Sutton was left seething after Rangers were awarded a controversial penalty early on in the second-half of their Old Firm clash against Celtic at Ibrox.
The visitors took an incredibly early lead, with Daizen Maeda capitalising on some questionable defender from Rangers skipper James Tavernier. Just over half an hour later and Celtic were given a penalty of their own, which was duly converted by Matt O'Riley for his first Old Firm goal.
Rangers forward Fabio Silva, on loan from Premier League outfit Wolves, was at the heart of plenty of flashpoints throughout. The most dubious was the one that handed his side a way back into the game, initially yellow carded for diving, the Portuguese talent was eventually given the spot-kick after a VAR intervention.
Alistair Johnston clipped Silva with an outstretched leg, but replays seemed to suggest that the forward went to ground relatively easily. That was certainly the view of Sutton, who let rip at the Rangers ace.
"This would be embarrassing if a penalty is given," the former Celtic star said while on commentary duty. "Silva is already on his way down. Of course it's not a clear and obvious error."
Premier League odds and betting tipsDespite his protests, a penalty was given and Tavernier made up his early error by calmly dispatching from the spot. Celtic 'keeper Joe Hart dived the right way, but stood little chance of keeping such an accurate effort out.
Just minutes later, it looked like Rangers had bagged another and levelled things up. After some scrappy play inside the box, Cyriel Dessers lashed home from close range, sparking wild celebrations inside of Ibrox.

They were soon cut short, as Tom Lawrence was judged to have tripped Reo Hatate in the build-up. Rangers boss Philippe Clement could barely believe the decision and was spotted sarcastically laughing from his technical area.
The outcome of the derby is pivotal to the race for the Scottish Premier League title. Before kick-off, Celtic were a point in front of their oldest enemies, having played one game more. Late drama that saw Rangers equalise twice means they remain one point adrift of Brendan Rodgers' men.
