PADDINGTON is known for being well-traveled but no-one expected to see our furry friend on Mars.

Experts noticed markings on the Red Planet that look just like the marmalade-loving bear.

The structures and craters are an uncanny resemblance but are actually nothing more than a strange coincidence.

It's also a lot bigger than your average bear's face.

The image is zoomed out and measures more than 6,500 feet across.

So what is it really then?

Thankfully the University of Arizona has set the record straight.

The bit that looks like a nose is some sort of hill with a V-shaped collapsed structure.

Two craters make up the eyes.

And the head is simply a circular fracture pattern.

"The circular fracture pattern might be due to the settling of a deposit over a buried impact crater," scientists explained.

"Maybe the nose is a volcanic or mud vent and the deposit could be lava or mud flows?"

The image was captured by Nasa's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.

Experts have noticed all sorts of weird stuff on the Red Planet in recent years.

Last summer, Nasa cameras saw what looked like a weird spaghetti monster.
