A NUMBER plate named after an Oscar-nominated film is still available to buy - but comes with a £1million price tag.

Barbie may have lost out to Oppenheimer at the Oscars, but one film buff is hoping the acclaimed movie can make him a millionaire.

The film fan is selling the number plate BAR 81E for an eye-watering and very exact sum - £1,048,205.

Fortunately for any buyer, that includes an £80 DVLA transfer fee.

The private plate is valid on any vehicles registered after January 1, 1967.

The plate is available to buy through Absolute Reg.

Jake Smith from Absolute Reg said: “This number plate is perfect for fans of the Barbie movie and it would look fantastic on a pink Corvette.

“It will appeal to Barbies and Kens alike but buyers will need to dig deep for the privilege of owning this exclusive number plate.”

The Barbie film, directed by Greta Gerwig and starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, was the highest grossing film in 2023, taking $1.4billion (£1.1bn) at the box office.

Barbie the fashion doll is known to have owned more than 15 vehicles since she was debuted at a New York toy fair in 1959.

Her impressive £12.5million car collection includes a classic £132,000 Ferrari, a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible, a Jaguar XJS, and a Porsche 964 911 cabriolet.

The toy's first-ever car was a 1962 Austin Healey 3000 MkII and came in a fetching salmon pink colour.

A much-loved British sports car, the Austin 3000 featured a triple-carburetted inline-6 engine and laid down 102 horsepower.

One of the cars costs about £54,000 today, according to classic car experts at Hagerty.

In 2004, a limited edition Barbie car offered only at the International Barbie Doll Collections Convention in Chicago was modelled off the Ferrari F1 car of that season.

It is Barbie's most valuable car by far - in fact, its prestige and heritage makes it almost priceless.

But if The Sun had to put a price on it, a version of the 2003 F1 model that propelled the legendary Michael Schumacher to his sixth world title hit auction last year.

The car fetched a whopping 14.6m Swiss Francs - making a 2004 model worth approximately £11.7m.

It eclipses the price of all of Barbie's other cars combined and lifts the value of the collection to £12.5m.

The model version would be worth a pretty penny itself.
