Princess Anne's son, said to have been the late Queen’s favourite grandson, has split from his longterm girlfriend.
Peter Phillips, 46, is reportedly suffering from heartache after ending his three-year relationship with Lindsay Wallace, 43, although the pair are said to have kept things amicable in the break-up.
They first got together in 2021 after the end of Peter's marriage to Autumn Kelly, 45. Peter was the first of the late Queen's grandchildren to get divorced. Lindsay went to school with Peter’s sister Zara Tindall and the pair each have two children from their previous marriages.
Lindsay, the daughter of an oil tycoon, and Zara both attended Gordonstoun School in Scotland, which costs £45,000 per year. The reconnected at a 2019 reunion and became pals, according to media reports.
“They were friends before their relationship blossomed,” a source told the Sun. “But Peter and Lindsay have gone their separate ways as the relationship simply ran its course.”
Meghan Markle 'to unleash her own memoirs' as Prince Harry's drops next weekPeter introduced Lindsay to his grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, at Windsor Castle. He also took her along to royal events like Ascot, Windsor and the Coronation concert and she attended baby christenings in the family.
Peter and Lindsay's joint presence redefined protocol as any royal girlfriend or boyfriend has normally not been invited to attend significant national events. Peter, who is 18th in line to the throne, is the eldest son of Princess Anne and her first husband Captain Mark Phillips.
Peter split from Canadian wife Autumn after she told him she wanted to end their marriage in February 2020. The couple, who tied the knot in St George’s Chapel at Windsor in 2008, have two children Savannah, 13, and Isla, 12.
Peter and Autumn announced their divorce in June 2021. In March 2021 it was revealed mum-of-two Lindsay had broken up with her husband and was in a relationship with Peter.
Police questioned Peter in March 2021, during the height of Covid lockdown rules, after he drove 460 miles from his home in Gloucestershire to her house on Scotland’s east coast, worth £475,000.
The pair were photographed together in November 2021 ahead of Lucas Tindall’s christening and Peter introduced Lindsay to Queen Elizabeth II in January 2022. Later that year the pair were seen together at Royal Ascot and the Epsom Derby. Last summer Lindsay was spotted in the Royal Box at Wimbledon with Peter and rubbing shoulders with Queen Camilla.
As Letters Patent by King George V in 1917 detail, he was not eligible to hold a princely title as he is a descendant from the female line. It is thought that the Queen offered to give him a title at the time of his birth, but Princess Anne turned it down.
