THE Aintree Festival is HERE with three monster days of national hunt racing starting today!

Our man Templegate is here with his Tote Placepot selections for day one, with a stunning £250,000 guaranteed in the pot to play for every day of the festival!

The Placepot is a bet where you select a horse to be placed in the FIRST SIX races of any meeting.

You can pick more than one horse in a race – you just multiply the number of selections in each race to calculate your stake. So for staking it’s 2x1x2x1x2x2 which adds up to 16 lines.

You can stake what you want upwards from 5p a line. 10p a line is £1.60 with our picks and so on. Provided at least one in each race is placed, we get a payout!

AINTREE THURSDAY PLACEPOT

LEG 1: Grey Dawning

GREY DAWNING showed all his class when winning the Turners at the Cheltenham Festival. He jumps for fun and likes soft ground. There should be more to come.

LEG 2: Sir Gino, Kalif Du Berlais

SIR GINO was all the rage for the Triumph Hurdle before the Nicky Henderson stable went under a cloud. If he’s back and firing there’s no stopping him.

But, just in case, we should also include KALIF DU BERLAIS who is fresh having missed Cheltenham and looked a top prospect when scoring in the Adonis at Kempton.

LEG 3: Shishkin, Corbetts Cross

SHISHKIN is quirky but he won this race last year and his true form would take him very close again.

CORBETTS CROSS will relish these testing conditions and his staying power should be a real asset.

LEG 4: Impaire Et Passe

IMPAIRE ET PASSE has already won a couple of times at this highest level and has run well behind State Man and Teahupoo this season.

LEG 5: Its On The Line, Time Leader, Spyglass Hill

ITS ON THE LINE was second in the Cheltenham version of this and can improve on last year’s effort when the ground was too quick.

TIME LEADER was a good third at Cheltenham and ran a cracker in this 12 months ago.

SPYGLASS HILL ploughed through the mud when coming late to win at Haydock last time and this ground should be ideal.

LEG 6: Saint Roi, Homme Public

SAINT ROI didn’t get a lot of luck in running at Cheltenham last time and ran well at this meeting 12 months ago.

HOMME PUBLIC has been hoovering up minor prizes and has more to offer with just four chase runs on his CV.
