House hunters are set to get more than they bargained for with a six-bedroom house full of “treasures” on the Isle of Wight.

The property will certainly spring a surprise and many people will be put off by all the junk inside the home which is on the market for £400,000. There is even a health and safety warning with children banned from viewing it, while adults are told to wear “strong footwear”.

Images show how junk has been allowed to stack up inside rooms and spread around the house. But at the same time it has the basis for a stunning family home when renovated in Ryde, on the Isle of Wight and it has plenty of space with six bedrooms.

At the moment it is a sorry sight with rubbish filling most of the rooms. Photos of the living room show books, clocks, lamps, a trolley and trays among the many items, with little room to walk. But there is an impressive chandelier hanging from the ceiling and a mirror over the fireplace.

In the hallway there is an elegant staircase but around it a lot more litter upon furniture and chairs piled high up. For the right person it would be a dream to sort through the home with high ceilings which could be restored with some care and attention.

Moving into the kitchen and the dining table has more junk with plenty of utensils but again it is a wide open space with plenty of light. Agents were unable to carry out measuring a detailed floor plan and had to rely on an old one.

They say on Rightmove: "In need of substantial modernisation is this six-bedroom period property. PLEASE NOTE only clients who are able to proceed to purchase immediately are invited to view. Due to the condition of the property some rooms are un-viewable. We advise strong footwear when viewing.

"Floor plans etc have been taken from previous media and no liability can be taken for accuracy as we are unable to gain access to some rooms. The vendors are needing a quick sale so offers and viewings from clients in a position to proceed immediately." And they added: "No children to attend viewings on health and safety grounds."

"That's really sad," one poster said on Reddit. "Someone obviously had some issues with hoarding, but I bet the house is lovely once you remove all the stuff." Another said: "There's a good arch or two and some great windows and it's not in bad nick. Some quite modern fixtures so it went downhill just over a couple of decades or so. We all are driven to accumulate stuff, even the minimalists among us..."

A person commented: "The fallen plaster work above the fireplace is a bit concerning. Most likely an absolute money pit but potentially a beautiful house." Another agreed: "Definitely some treasure in there!"
