Beyond Paradise's Martha Lloyd has left the sunny Caribbean for tranquil Devon - and actress Sally Bretton misses it already.

The 43-year-old star has been on our screens for nearly two decades and is best known for playing Lucy in Not Going Out and Martha in the Death in Paradise cinematic universe. In the BBC drama, Martha has found a new home in the fictional town of Shipton Abbott with her fiancé, Detective Inspector Humphrey Goodman.

It means work is a whole lot closer to home for actress Sally, but she isn't too pleased. On This Morning earlier this week, when asked if she was glad to have stopped filming in the Caribbean, Sally responded: "No!" She added: "I was only out there for four or five weeks, I didn't get any of the hurricanes, I got it at just the perfect time. I had an amazing time."

Sharing an insight into Martha's future with Humphrey, who is played by actor Kris Marshall, Sally also revealed: "Things are looking up for Martha. They're exploring fostering and they're right at the start of that journey, and very nervous about it and want it to go well and want to be good at it. They've got lots of love to give."

While Martha is hoping to start a family, Sally has a real-life family of her own at home. Away from the cameras, she is happily married to a photographer named Lee. The couple chooses to live a low-key life away from the spotlight and not much is known about Lee, other than they share three children and live together in Hertfordshire.

However, back in 2020, Sally spoke to the Glasgow Times about her role in the play adaptation of Dial M for Murder and mentioned that she doesn't often take touring theatre roles due to her children being young. She said: "My children are still quite young, so I haven't done much theatre - touring is not a good fit with family life."

She continued: "My children came up to Aberdeen for half term, which was fantastic - we had a lovely time. Even saw some dolphins, which was unexpected." As well as starring in plays, Sally has had stints in comedies. One of her first TV roles was Donna in Ricky Gervais' sitcom The Office, and then she starred in Channel 4 sitcom Green Wing as Kim.
