During the programme, actress Sarah Woodward made her first appearance as killer Miriam Sworder.

In the episode, fraudulent astronomer Professor Bertram Sworder was offed by his wife Miriam after she discovered he'd built his reputation by ripping off friend Jeremy Herbert's work.

It made her question their entire 42-year relationship, and so she sabotaged a joint plot they'd made to fake his death to stop his lies being rumbled by the wider world.

But one fan was left distracted as they pointed out a rather similar resemblance to former PM, Liz Truss.

Taking to Twitter, they shared: "Fell asleep in front of the telly - then when I woke up, spent several confused and surreal moments wondering what Liz Truss was doing in Death in Paradise."

The pair did have somewhat of a resemblance with them both sporting very similar haircuts.

After Miriam flung Bertram to his death for real she was left covering up the incident in a bid to make it appear an accident.

She hid the evidence in a secret room in their villa where Bertram had intended to hide after their stunt.

Once Neville told Miriam the game was up, she came clean and admitted she saw red as her husband teetered on the edge of the cliff. She was then arrested.

The episode ended on a lighter note with Neville kissing Sophie Chambers, who is on the island for a 10 day stay.
