Eric Dier believes an “outstanding” atmosphere at the Allianz Arena can help blow Arsenal away in the Champions League.

Bayern Munich ’s former Tottenham defender Dier believes his team have rediscovered belief and confidence after beating Cologne in the Bundesliga ahead of Wednesday’s European second leg. It was Bayern’s first clean sheet in ten games even though they did lose Kingsley Coman and he joins Serge Gnabry on the injured list for the Arsenal game.

Dier said: “We have to defend as a collective on Wednesday and show the right energy. The atmosphere and the support from our fans will definitely be outstanding, and that's going to help.

"I'm really excited about it.”

Bayern veteran Thomas Muller added: “You could tell when we stood in front of the fans. They can't wait for Wednesday and neither can we.

“We all know how important this is. I hope we can experience a fantastic night of football. The great thing about this situation is that the team that wins will actually progress.”

Bayern regulars Alphonso Davies, Jamal Musiala, Leon Goretzka and Konrad Laimer were all named on the bench for the Cologne game to give them a rest ahead of Arsenal.

The Bayern fans were banned from the first leg at the Emirates after letting off fireworks in two previous ties but their home supporters were already chanting about European success in their win over Cologne on Saturday.
