Darwin Nunez was seen kicking his seat in frustration following a missed chance in Liverpool's 1-0 defeat against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.

The Uruguay striker, 24, was named in Jurgen Klopp's starting XI for the visit of Palace, who went in at the break 1-0 up courtesy of a slick goal from Eberechi Eze. He was withdrawn just before the hour mark, though, as the Reds switched things up in a bit to restore parity.

That meant Nunez had a watching brief during the final third of the game as Liverpool laid siege on the visitors goal - and he couldn't hide his frustration after seeing Curtis Jones blow a golden chance to equalise after being put through on goal.

Nunez was seen booting one of the seats in the home dugout in anger behind a shellshocked Klopp before cameras returned to the action.

Liverpool fans also reacted furiously on social media with one fan posting: "Awful finishing from Curtis Jones," while another added: "Curtis Jones [has been] awful since his return from injury, Conor Bradley has to stop starting games."

Unfortunately for Liverpool, they were unable to muster up a response in the second-half and fell to a damaging defeat to hand Arsenal and Manchester City the initiative in the title race.

The result means Liverpool remain third behind, two points behind City. Last season's nearly men Arsenal will go back to the summit and three points ahead of Klopp's men with a win against Aston Villa.

Liverpool defender Andy Robertson admitted after the match to Sky Sports that he and his team-mates were paying the price for being so wasteful in front of goal.

The Scotland international said: "It's been the story of the last few games and that's why we have been punished in these games. We are struggling to keep clean sheets right now. I don't know how many we have had in the last 10 or 15 games but it won't be many. When you do that you have to take chances. As simple as that.

"The boys in front of goal have to do better. But the boys at the back, as defensive unit as a whole, we have to do better. Which isn't great thing for success So frustrating today. So many chances. First half I thought we were poor and they were in top and could have been more than 1-0 up. Second half we had enough chances to win two or three games."
