Tom Brady has called for his former New England Patriots teammate Rodney Harrison to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Brady, who is seen as a shoo-in for the illustrious accolade himself upon first eligibility in 2028, passionately backed Harrison for this recognition, despite his own six-year wait to join the ranks of those officially recognised as greats of the game.

During an appearance on the "Deep Cut" podcast with Vic Blends, the record seven-time Super Bowl champion voiced his steadfast belief in Harrison's merits for induction. The duo shared a locker room from 2003-2008, clinching two Super Bowl titles under the guidance of head coach Bill Belichick.

Harrison, characterised by his relentless and gritty approach to the sport, has been eligible for Hall of Fame induction for over ten years. Having already earned a spot in New England's own Hall of Fame, Brady firmly upholds that his old comrade is deserving of the broader recognition.

In a heartfelt tribute during his chat with Blends, the former gridiron great Tom Brady didn't hold back in expressing his admiration for Harrison's often overlooked contributions to the sport. He asserted: "To me, one of the greatest football players the league has ever seen and doesn't get the recognition.

"He should be in the Hall of Fame. He was as good a competitor, defensive player, smart, tough, physical, f****** mean out there on the field," Brady elaborated, fondly recalling their time together at the Patriots when they were an unstoppable force. He added: "I loved it, and I loved playing with him."

In the interview that covered a range of topics, Brady also touched upon the swirling rumours about a potential return to the NFL. Since hanging up his helmet earlier this year, there's been non-stop chatter about a possible sensational comeback, including whispers of the San Francisco 49ers reaching out to him.

When quizzed about the possibility of strapping on his cleats once more, Brady admitted: "I'm not opposed to it. I don't know if they're gonna let me, if I become an owner of an NFL team, but I don't know if - I don't know. I'm always gonna be in good shape, [I'll] always be able to throw the ball. So to come in for a little bit, like M.J. coming back? I don't know if they'd let me, but I wouldn't be opposed to it."

Opening up on whether he would consider an emotional return to New England to pick up from where he left off upon his departure back in 2019, he said: "Patriots? Could be," before also admitting that he could not rule out playing for the Las Vegas Raiders due to his co-ownership of the team, adding: "Raiders? Could be. You never know."

Previously, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan admitted to NBC Sports that an approach for Brady to un-retire had been made, acknowledging: Yes, I was serious about it, before addressing how he would have put any hypothetical move to Brock Purdy, adding: "But how cool would it be if Tom Brady would be the quarterback here for one season? How cool would it be for you to learn from him? '".
