Their most recent - 2-1 to Udinese at home - was the club's fourth straight defeat in all competitions.

It proved to be Sarri's last in charge of Lazio, after the club confirmed he had left.

The Italian spent just one season at Chelsea after replacing Antonio Conte in 2018.

But he left Stamford Bridge after just a sole season, walking out with a Europa League trophy to his name.

Frank Lampard would replace Sarri, who went on to join Juventus.

With Juve, he won the league title but again his reign lasted no more than a full season after he was sacked in October 2020.

Sarri had a one-year sabbatical before returning to the dugout with Lazio.

But for the first time since his days with Napoli, Sarri walks out on the side without any silverware.

Sarri's managerial future now looks up in the air after he last year hinted at retirement following victory over Celtic.

He said: “This is no longer the game I love."

Former player Tommaso Rocchi is on the list of potential replacements, along with club icon and World Cup winner Miroslav Klose.
