Gordes, located on the Monts of Vaucluse, is just a 45-minute trip from the Marseille Airport.
And with cheap Ryanair flights, there's no better time to book that last minute getaway.
Temperatures in Gordes are a warm 21C in May, but rise as high as 31C at the height of summer.

Travel + Leisure, who listed Gordes as the most beautiful small town in the world, said the village looks like it’s been “plucked from the pages of a storybook”.
They said: “Gordes tends to be swarming with tourists during the summer months.
“But can you really blame visitors for wanting to soak in the magic of one of the most beautiful villages in France, if not the world?”
Take a stroll down the “calades” or cobblestone streets or take a unique tour of the area by a Citroen 2CV.
Follow the winding promenade to reach the Pearl of Luberon with exceptional views.
Bag a bargain at Marché de Gordes or find that unique souvenir at Confiserie Saint Denis.
Catch a show at the Terrace Theatre, found in the middle of terraced slopes, carved into place by local farmers.
A must-see attraction is the Château de Gordes, which dates all the way back as far as the 11th century.
Or explore the 18th century Saint Firmin Church which looks like a “fortress on top of the rock".

Holidaymakers took to Tripadvisor to rate their visit to Gordes.
One person said: “The Village is very charming, with winding streets and hidden gems all throughout. There are excellent shops, high end art galleries and plenty of nice places to eat....and of course the amazing views that go on for days.”
Another said: “The view of Gordes from afar, perched along the hilltop, is what I had on my vision board and why I travelled to the South of France to begin with- and it did not disappoint. Stunning!”
While another added: “This village is typical of the Provence with its houses, its trees. The place is very nice. Please lose yourself in the streets. It’s the best way to discover Gordes.
“There’s a fantastic view on the village near the parking. Just less than 10 minutes’ walk.
“I recommend because it’s one of the most beautiful villages of France.”
