Days after lifting the lid on her distressful Hollyoaks exit, Stephanie Waring has shared her interest in venturing into the I'm A Celebrity jungle and the Strictly dancefloor.

The actress made the revelation during a recent chat as she contemplated the free time she was left with after she was axed from the Channel 4 program.

Despite shooting to fame as original character Cindy Cunningham from her debut in 1996, Stephanie was among the 20 stars to be given the boot in a devastating cast cull. "I haven’t ever been available to do shows like I’m a Celebrity and Strictly because I’ve always been too busy around the time of them being on", she explained.

And while she's keen to show off her moves in BBC One's dancing competition, Stephanie has a clear favourite: "But it’s something I’m open to now. I’d love to do the jungle - anything that gets me back to Australia! It’s a challenge as well and I do love the show," she told The Sun.

Speculation has been rife over the 2024 edition of the reality program as a new batch of celebs are due to face the Bushtucker Trials in the hopes of being crowned King or Queen of the Australian jungle later this year. After Sam Thompson's triumph in 2023, a string of familiar faces have been tipped to try their luck including Richard Arnold, axed EastEnders actor Max Bowden, Susanna Reid and former professional footballer Peter Crouch. Could Stephanie Waring be thrown into the mix?

Stephanie wouldn't be the first and only Hollyoaks star to head down under as her co-star Tony Hutchinson actor Nick Pickard was part of the I'm A Celebrity line-up last year, setting camp in the jungle in November, 2023.

Nick had taken time out of his busy soap schedule to star alongside the likes of Sam Thompson, who was crowned King, EastEnders actress Danielle Harold and former UKIP leader Nigel Farage. Nick's time in the jungle was short-lived as he was the fourth celebrity to be eliminated from the series in early December. Meanwhile, Strictly has also welcomed former Hollyoaks stars Ashley Taylor Dawson and Danny Mac, in 2013 and 2016.

Stephanie detailed her Hollyoaks exit, admitting she was "very distraught" by the news and begged bosses to reconsider. "In the meeting they read from a script and a tear fell from my eye because I could just feel it in the room", she recalled.

"They got to the end and said ‘And with that, we will be losing Cindy from the show’. I just kept saying ‘I don’t understand’. I was very distraught, I didn’t take it well - I was probably the most dramatic person they told. She added: "I just kept telling them ‘I’m an original character’. I was clutching at anything - telling them ‘but I was the first person to give birth on the show!’" What will be her next move?
