Five taken to hospital with injuries after bus crashes into block of flats

Several people were rushed to hospital after a bus crashed into a block of flats.

Police, paramedics and firefighters rushed to the scene after a McGills bus went into the high rise flats in Paisley, Glasgow. Photos showed the single decker vehicle wedged against the wall at the foot of Hamilton Court. A cordon was erected with at least three fire engines, three ambulances and five police cars at the scene. Residents stood watching the emergency crews as they dealt with the incident. It is believed at least five people were injured, reported GlasgowLive.

A spokesman for McGill's Buses said: "This is a live incident and McGill's personnel are in attendance to establish the details of the crash. We cannot comment further at this stage.” Police Scotland confirmed a number of road closures were in place. A spokesperson said: "Emergency services are in attendance following a report of a crash involving a bus on Calside, Paisley which happened around 12.20pm on Wednesday, 13 March, 2024. A number of roads are closed and drivers are asked to avoid the area.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson added: "We were alerted at 12.22pm on Wednesday, March 13 to reports of a road traffic collision involving a bus at Hamilton Court, in Stock Street, Paisley. Operations Control mobilised three appliances and special resources to the scene, where multiple casualties were handed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service. Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”
