The Loch Ness Monster has reportedly been sighted for the first time in 2024, with a family claiming to have caught "compelling new evidence" of the elusive creature.
The Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register has endorsed Parry and Hannah Malm's claim after they snapped a photo showing an unidentified presence near Urquhart Castle, a known hotspot for Nessie enthusiasts. The Malms, along with their children, were visiting the loch for the first time when they encountered the mysterious figure.
Parry recounted the moment, saying: "Shannon spotted the black head of an animal bobbing up and down. I was a total sceptic before but now I think there must be something there." As we approach the 90th anniversary of the initial search for Nessie, NASA is set to join the quest for this legendary creature. From May 30 to June 2, which coincides with the anniversary of Sir Edward Mountain's inaugural surface watch back in 1934, the space agency will contribute its expertise, reports the Daily Star.
Aimee Todd, the marketing manager at the Loch Ness Centre, expressed excitement about the collaboration: "We are hoping that experts from NASA might have some advanced imaging technology to scan the loch." Discussions on the logistics of the operation are pending, as Todd said: "We would have to sit down and talk to them about how to get it here."
The legend of Nessie continues to captivate, with over 1,156 sightings recorded since the days of Sir Edward Mountain's expeditions. This comes after a holidaymaker claimed to have spotted Nessie, snapping a photo of an 8ft beast lurking beneath the waters in Scotland.
Disgusted shoppers slam supermarket after spotting turkey two weeks out of dateEarlier this year, we shared the story of Steve Challice from Southampton who stumbled upon a photo he'd taken of an 8ft sea creature. He was visiting Urquhart Castle with his brother, gazing out at Loch Ness, when he noticed an unusual "sort of ripple in the water" and quickly grabbed his camera.
Steve didn't think much of it until he was flicking through his holiday snaps during the 2020 lockdown. Speaking to the Daily Record, he said: "I started taking a couple of shots and then this big fish came to the surface and then went back down again. It only appeared in one shot and to be honest that was something of a fluke. I watched for a while as you can see from the last picture but didn't see it again."
