IF you're looking forward to hard partying this weekend but are wary of the negative skincare side effects, don't worry.

A beauty expert revealed that drinking a type of beer can promote anti-aging and youthful skin, just in time for St. Patrick's Day.

SpaSeekers.com Director Jason Goldberg shared a useful tip about a popular alcoholic beverage with a slew of skincare benefits.

This weekend, many people around the world will be heading to their local pub to grab a beer or two for the festive holiday.

If you're wondering about a beer to drink with several skincare benefits, then pick up a fresh pint of Guinness.

According to Jason, one of the main ingredients found in a pint of Guinness is barley, which contains several antioxidants including polyphenols.

They can help "repair and rejuvenate" as well as "minimize skin aging" and damage.

"Barley is also a source of various vitamins and minerals including vitamin B3, iron, and zinc, which are known for promoting healthy skin too," he explained.

The expert added that the hops found in a pint of Guinness can also contribute to maintaining a healthy skin barrier.

The notable hops in the beer contain antioxidant properties which can help to protect the skin from oxidative stress and environmental damage.

Before you get too excited, Jason warned that the dehydrating effects of the alcohol content in a pint of Guinness counteract some of the positive effects, especially if you drink many in a short period.

“While these ingredients could offer some potential benefits for the skin though, it’s crucial to consider the overall context of your pint consumption," he said.

Not only can alcohol dehydrate the skin, but he added that excessive alcohol consumption is also associated with inflammation and other effects on skin health.

While some ingredients in Guinness may offer some skin benefits, Jason emphasized the importance of a well-balanced diet and a nourishing skincare routine.

Even if you like to indulge in libations regularly, he called this "a much more reliable and effective way to support skin health."

If you’re heading to the pub this weekend for a bevy with the Irish crowd, enjoy the celebrations but consider drinking a glass of water every other drink to minimize the dehydrating effects.

This also reduces the risk of any potential hangovers, which are the worst.
