A PEOPLE'S Postcode Lottery jackpot winner will only take home half of her £200,000 prize because of her neighbour's silly blunder.

Widow Sadie Docherty, 86, was overjoyed when she found out she'd won thousands this week from her home in Baillieston, Glasgow.

But it quickly dawned on her that she'd actually only get half her winnings.

Her daughter Sharon, 53, who lives in the flat below her, had never signed up.

Sadie said: “I’ll half it with my daughter and sort the rest of the family out.”

Sharon called her "the best wee mammy ever", adding: "I’m over the moon at mum winning. I can’t thank her enough."

HAPPY TO SHARE

Mum-of-three Sadie, who has six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, said she’s happy she can help Sharon – and the rest of her family.

She said: “I’m happy to share it with my daughter. I never ever thought I’d win. I've never had that amount of money in my life. I’ve never even had half as much as that.

“I’m too old to do anything for myself, so I’ll mostly help out my family.”

She added: “I’ve been to Devon a few times; I went there with my husband Jack. I could go back if I can get someone to go with me. I might also go and see my daughter who lives in Spain.”

Sadie joked she hoped the money arrived in her bank account sooner rather than later, considering her age.

She said: “The quicker the better in case I die tomorrow."

Sharon, who works for Glasgow City Council, danced around with excitement after her mum’s cheque was revealed.

She whooped: “Woohoo! Here we go! This is brilliant…amazing. We’ll split the cheque, but I’m gutted I never signed up.

"I don’t know why I never did. Probably because mum was playing, and I was doing other things. I should have, but I’ll start now.”

Sharon’s now planning a house revamp – and a treat for her partner, blacksmith Paul Gallagher, 54.

Sharon said: “I’ll think of something to do with the money. Redecorate maybe, get a new bathroom. Paul just wants a special fish supper.”

It comes after a woman told how she won a £145,000 lottery jackpot but her dad only got £2,000.

And another woman revealed she suffered a scary sign before winning the People's Postcode Lottery.
