Amanda Stavely has confirmed that she remains a director of Newcastle United to allay fears that she had stepped down.

Staveley, who played a key role in facilitating the takeover of the club by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, resigned as a director of 20 companies associated with Newcastle earlier this week. Despite being removed removed from a raft of listings on the Companies House website, Mirror Football reported the resignations were part of business housekeeping and that many of the subsidiary companies are dormant.

After returning from a trip to Saudi Arabia, Stavely has looked to ease any worry that she was stepping away from a role with the club. The 51-year-old clarified the situation and revealed holding so many positions had always bee seen as temporary.

Stavely said on Instagram : "Just arrived back from Saudi and noticed a lot of messages from fans concerned that I had stepped down from my role as a director of Newcastle United.

"I have not - the changes made last week were purely administrative, to non trading subsidiaries. After the takeover, Jamie and I stepped in as directors of all companies until we could build an executive team.

"We remain on the ‘top-co’ and the Board. I’d like to thank everyone for their incredible support over the last few years, and particularly for people taking the time to share their thoughts. We have the best fans in the world - and I am privileged and proud to be a part of your community."

The financier remains a director of her company PCP Nominees Limited, NUFC.co.uk Limited, Newcastle United Football Company Limited, Newcastle United Limited, a holding company for her Magpies shares JV1 Limited, Cantervale Holdings Limited and PZ Newco Limited. Staveley recently saw her shareholding in the North East club diluted from 10 per cent to 6 per cent due to cash injections by the Saudi Public Investment Fund and fellow co-owners the Reuben family.
