Bears' new-look depth chart after Keenan Allen trade and two big FA signings

The Chicago Bears are going all out to give likely first overall pick Caleb Williams a strong offensive team for his rookie season.

On Thursday, the Bears made another move in their busy offseason, trading a fourth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft to the Los Angeles Chargers for star wide receiver Keenan Allen.

This unexpected move now gives Chicago one of the best wide receiver pairs in the NFL, with the 31 year old set to play alongside DJ Moore - who they signed from the Carolina Panthers in a deal for the first overall pick in last year's draft

But Allen isn't the only exciting player the Bears have added to their offense this offseason. They've also signed deals with running back D'Andre Swift (three-year, $24 million) and tight end Gerald Everett (two-year, $12 million) this week.

After several big signings over the past few days, Chicago has built a strong team to support their number one pick - most likely Williams - who is expected to be the future of the franchise. But will the Bears be able to meet the high expectations, or will they struggle in their new quarterback's rookie season?

Mirror Sports US has taken a look at the Bears' new and improved depth chart, and what Chicago might do with their two top-10 picks in the upcoming NFL Draft

QB: Caleb Williams, Justin Fields.

The Bears are almost certain to pick Williams first in the 2024 NFL Draft, which means they may look to move on Justin Fields. They've had trouble finding a team willing to trade for the 25 year old, as most teams needing a quarterback have already found one through free agency, and others are now looking to the Draft.

Williams is seen as an exceptional talent and the best quarterback in a strong group that includes North Carolina's Drake Maye and LSU's Jayden Daniels. Last season, he threw for 3,633 passing yards, 30 touchdowns and only five interceptions.

RB: D'Andre Swift, Khalil Herbert.

The Bears made a big splash early in free agency by signing Swift, who just had the best season of his career. The 25 year old set personal records in carries (229) and rushing yards (1,049) with the Philadelphia Eagles after being traded by the Detroit Lions - the team that drafted him in 2020.

Swift is expected to become the team's main running back, with Herbert serving as a backup. Herbert led the Bears' running backs in rushing yards last season (611), coming second only to Fields (657) on the team.

WR: Keenan Allen, DJ Moore.

With Allen now part of the team, the Bears have a powerful duo at wide receiver. Both he and Moore have shown they can be the main wide receiver for their teams, each getting over 1,200 receiving yards last season.

The Bears didn't have a strong second wide receiver last season, with the next best only getting 414 receiving yards.

This pair will give much-needed support to Williams, who will have two dependable receivers to pass to. Last season, new quarterback Bryce Young had a tough time in Carolina without a main wide receiver - experienced player Adam Thielen was the Panthers' top target.

TE: Gerald Everett, Cole Kmet.

Kmet really showed what he could do last year, coming second on the Bears in receiving yards (719). Everett, on the other hand, is a seasoned player and a threat in the red-zone who has caught 50 passes in each of the last two seasons.

OL: Olumuyiwa Fashanu (draft), Teven Jenkins, Coleman Shelton, Nate Davis, Darnell Wright.

After picking Wright in the first round last year, the Bears might do the same in 2024 by choosing Fashanu No. 9 overall to reinforce the O-line.

The Penn State tackle would probably play on the left side of the Bears offensive line that tied with the Bengals for the seventh-most sacks allowed (50) last season.

Another choice could be one of several well-known receivers, but with the Allen and Moore duo it would make sense to strengthen the protection for Williams.
