Lottery players are in with a chance of bagging some staggering prizes as both the Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots have soared following weeks of rollovers.

The Mega Millions jackpot has now reached an estimated $875million (£687million) while the Powerball jackpot sits at $600million (£471million). It comes after no tickets were matched during Friday's big Mega Millions draw and the prize fund rose by another $83million (£65 million).

The numbers were 13, 25, 50, 51 and 66 with a Mega ball of 6. The Megaplier was 5X.

While no one bagged the life-changing funds one player in New York was able to match all five white balls to win the game's lower prize of $1million (£800,000).

The next Mega Millions draw will be taking place on Tuesday and the monumental $875million (£687million) grand prize also carries a cash option of $413.5million (£350million.)

Winners usually opt for the cash prize over the Mega Millions annuity as it is distributed as one big and immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments. The odds of winning the grand prize are 1 in 302.6 million.

The last time someone picked up the prize fund was back on December 8, when two players from California matched all six numbers to take home the $395million (£310million) prize. Just four months earlier, on August 8, 2023, a record $1.6billion (£1.2 billion) jackpot was won in Florida. That prize is the world’s largest lottery ever won on a single ticket, the NY Post reports.

At the moment, the current Mega Millions prize fund would be the sixth-largest prize ever offered by the game. It is played across 45 states in the US, including the likes of Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands. However, people must buy a ticket for the game before 9.45pm on the night of the big draw.

It's not the only large prize up for grabs. Saturday night's Powerball jackpot is estimated to now be $600million (£471million) after no one matched all six numbers on Wednesday, lottery officials confirmed.

It marked the 32nd rollover for Powerball since January 1, when a ticket bought in Michigan won an $842.4million (£661million) prize. Powerball is drawn on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday every week.

But it's not an easy game to win either, with the odds of taking home the jackpot sitting at 1 in 292.2 million.
