Boos rang around the Racecourse Ground after Wrexham fell to a 1-0 defeat to Tranmere Rovers on Saturday, on a frustrating afternoon for Phil Parkinson's side.
Wrexham have battled themselves into yet another title race in this season, alongside Mansfield Town and Stockport County who sit first and second respectively. With County drawing at local rivals Salford City, the door was open for the Red Dragons to move into second, just three two points behind the leaders.
The National League champions failed to capitalise though, as despite dominating the ball and chances on goal within the game, an eight-minute strike from Luke Norris proved enough to earn a hard-fought victory for the away side.

Since being taken over by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, the mood around both the football club and the town of Wrexham has been a good one, after their return to the Football League for the first time in 15 years this season. Reynolds and McElhenney felt real frustration from the Wrexham faithful for the first time on Saturday, though, after their team were booed at the full-time whistle.

The defeat to Tranmere however did their League 2 title hopes no favours, after slipping five points behind leaders Mansfield.
Manager, Parkinson vented his frustrations after the full-time whistle after his team failed to break down a resolute Tranmere defence. "I think if you look around the country and the results today, to have 25 attempts, I don't think there will be many teams that have had that but four on target is not enough for the quality we have got.
"We needed to work the goalkeeper more today. We have had some great moments and football is all about taking them and we were not able to do that so that is very frustrating for us." Not faulting the efforts of his players, he went on: "The lads have give their all again.
"I don't think there is any doubt about that but we just could not quite find the moment today... We have had a few games like that recently. In the past we haven't, we have punished teams when we have had that dominance and we have got to look at why. Are the defenders better? Yes of course they are it is a higher division.
"But I still feel we have got the players that can show more of a ruthless edge when we get into that final third." After a draw to Harrogate in midweek and Saturday's defeat, Wrexham will be keen to bounce back to form when they take on Grimsby Town at Blundell Park next weekend.
