Mikel Arteta has hailed the impact of Leandro Trossard after he scored in Arsenal's 2-0 win over Wolves.

Trossard has scored several key goals for the Gunners so far this season and is their second-leading goalscorer, having netted 14 times across all competitions. And Arteta has branded him a "little magician", hailing the former Brighton star's versatility and composure in front of goal.

Speaking after the win over Wolves, Arteta said: "Trossard, great player. He's a little magician. He can score on any surface and he's a big threat; so composed, so cool, he can play in different positions.

"It's just a joy to have him in the team. I think the timing of the first goal was really helpful as well. [I am ] really happy." Former Arsenal star Theo Walcott also hailed Trossard, highlighting the fact that he "gets big goals in big moments" and has become one of Arteta's "go-to" players.

"I feel like he is a player you can rely on," Walcott told Sky Sports. "That is why he is the go-to that Mikel turns to if he's on the bench. He can make the difference. He doesn't want to be a go-to, he wants to be that starting man but he gets big goals in big moments, and he's well-trusted in that environment. For me, he's been fantastic."

Fellow Sky pundit Jamie Redknapp, meanwhile, contrasted Trossard's time at Arsenal with Mykhaylo Mudryk's time at Chelsea. Arsenal were beaten to the signing of Mudryk by Chelsea, who paid around £88million for the winger, with the Gunners then forking out £27m to sign Trossard instead.

Trossard has gone on to score 15 goals and provide 12 assists for Arsenal, while Mudryk has managed just six goals and four assists for Chelsea. "He's been a great signing," Redknapp said of Trossard.

"If I'm not mistaken, they were in for Mudryk, not getting him, he obviously chose to go to Chelsea and they paid big money for him. He was probably the second choice, but if you look at the two careers up to now.

"Listen, there's nothing to say Mudryk can't go on and have a brilliant career with Chelsea, but he's been a brilliant signing. He comes up with vital goals, never complains, if he comes off the bench he makes an impact.

"Today that first goal was so vital, gives great width and is comfortable on the ball. He's been a great signing. It just shows you when you’re looking to add players, you've got to bring them in at the right time and he's certainly been that player. Such an important goal."
