TV presenter Dan Walker has been cleared of serious conduct allegations following a work place probe at Channel 5.
The 46-year-old news anchor at the broadcaster was "completely exonerated” following the HR-led investigation into a multi-pronged complaint by a colleague in the media which prompted network bosses to launch the probe. Dan joined Channel 5 News after leaving BBC Breakfast in April 2022 and is reportedly earning £500,000 a year.
A Channel 5 spokesman said: “ITN commissioned an independent external expert to investigate these allegations but none were upheld.” A spokesman for ITN said: “We take such claims incredibly seriously. To ensure fairness and impartiality, we appointed an independent external consultant and they have concluded their investigation. Given our ongoing duty of care, we won’t be commenting further.”
An investigator, according to The Sun, also added about the claims alleged against the dad-of-three: "There is a lack of evidence to support allegations." A source told the publication that the allegations had "sent shockwaves" through Channel 5 and ITN as Dan is a "hugely popular figure" and "well respected". The source added that the presented was "devastated" and "totally stunned" by the claims.
The industry insider continued to say that Dan had "nothing to hide" and "co-operated with the investigation" and while he was "relieved" that he was cleared, he was "not surprised" as the investigation was "done by the book".
