Paul Mescal and Ayo Edebiri have sparked dating rumours after they were spotted celebrating St Patrick’s Day together.
Ayo, who recently won an Emmy and Golden Globe for her role as chef Sydney Adamu in comedy-drama The Bear, posted a snap of them together sitting on some steps to her Instagram stories as the pair beamed from ear to ear. The 28-year-old, who has been giving shout outs to Ireland in her acceptance speeches and been adopted by the country as an ‘Irish Princess’, captioned the post: “Happy St Paddy’s” followed by a shamrock emoji.
And with Irish actor Paul, also 28, recently revealing he would love to team up with Ayo to do a rom-com movie, fans are convinced the snap is the pair going Instagram official with what could be a real-life romance. One wrote on social media: “Yooo! Ayo Edebiri and Paul Mescal hanging out? Is this a sign their rom-com dreams are coming true? We need this movie to happen!” Another said: “I saw that Paul wants to do a rom com with Ayo and I will personally send someone $5 for this to happen PLEASE.”
A third chimed in: “If nobody is in the middle of drafting up a rom com script for Paul Mescal and Ayo Edebiri, Hollywood has failed.” While a fourth added: “So when are we getting the rom com where Ayo has to pretend to be Irish and enlists Paul’s help to teach her but they end up with a newfound appreciation for each other’s hometowns and fall in love.” The Mirror has reached out to reps for Paul and Ayo for further comment on the story.

“That’s one of those I leave the cinema and I’m incredibly jealous and brightened by everybody’s talents involved with that film. But I think in the next five years I’m going to set myself a challenge to do maybe a rom-com with Ayo, or something like that would be cool.”
Paul and Ayo are thought to have met at the BAFTAs back in February and have been seen hanging out a few times since then. Prior to that he was in a relationship with American singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers, 29, but the pair are thought to have split around a year ago.
Whether they are an item in real life remains to be seen, but Paul is famously tight-lipped when it comes to his love life. He told Harper’s Bazaar magazine that fan’s fascination with his relationships make him “uncomfortable.” He explained: “It’s nobody else’s business and should never be commented on because it’s indecent. And it’s unkind. Honest answer, it makes me angry... it’s the entitlement to the information that people expect that just drives me mad.”
