Jools Oliver has made it no secret that she and her husband Jamie Oliver want to expand their family.
The 49-year-old has now revealed she's helping others expand their own families, rather than welcoming a child of her own. Jools, who married chef Jamie in 2000 has said she was encouraged to take up a midwifery course two years ago and she hasn't looked back since.
But Jools is still taking part in the course which she explained should have only taken one year, adding that it's "typical" for her to still be participating in the course. Despite her success as a writer and model, Jools admits that midwifery is her "dream" career.
Speaking on a new podcast, she said: "Everyone said, "'There's still time, this is the time you do it'. It's been two years now, it should have been done in a year, this is very me. Ideally, I'd like to I think I just want to hold newborn babies left, right and centre. It's the dream job, catching newborn babies."
She continued on the Postcards From Midlife podcast, saying: "I didn't really have much guidance. I wish I'd just gone straight to college and been a midwife. That would hands down be the job I'd be still doing now and I think I'd probably have been quite good at it."
Jamie Oliver reveals his cupboard essentials that will save you moneyJools and Jamie have made it no secret that they want to expand their own family and welcome a sixth child into the brood. But their journey to parenthood wasn't an easy one and Jools only became pregnant with their first child Poppy in 2001 following a successful round of IVF treatment in her mid-20s.
Natural pregnancies followed, but Jools has been open about suffering five miscarriages throughout her marriage to Jamie. Two happened before she gave birth to her son River, in 2016, and another three came afterwards, including one during the Covid pandemic.
Grateful for the family they've got, Jamie told The Sun: "I am trying to move on to the next stage, but Jools keeps trying to drag me back. Seriously we would have loved a sixth if it happened. But we are so lucky to have the family we have and I am so happy. Exhausted, but happy!"
After welcoming River into the family, Jamie revealed he considered having a vasectomy but decided against it in case they wanted to try for baby number six. Back in 2018, Jools shared she was keen too and "wanted to get pregnant as quickly as possible".
