Ruben Amorim is unlikely to be Liverpool's next manager, according to reports, as West Ham weigh up an ambitious move.
The Sporting Lisbon boss has seen his stock rise since going from a player to a manager in his homeland. He's claimed numerous honours, which has put some of Europe's biggest clubs on alert and Liverpool are currently in the process of seeking a new manager.
Jurgen Klopp will leave when the season ends and, despite talk of Amorim heading to Anfield, it appears unlikely that he'll emerge as the club's preferred candidate, reports the Athletic. The Portuguese manager has held talks with the Hammers, who are poised to part with David Moyes come the end of the season.
Xabi Alonso had looked the early favourite to come in at Liverpool before he chose to commit himself to Bayer Leverkusen before leading them to the Bundesliga title. It has left the Anfield bosses weighing up their options with a decision imminent.
Jamie Carragher now believes Robero De Zerbi will be the club's ideal candidate. The ex-Reds defender tweeted on Monday night: "Richard Hughes wanted De Zerbi at Bournemouth, so he must be the favourite if this is true." Hughes has recently come in as the club's sporting director, working under Michael Edwards, having previously impressed at Bournemouth. Whilst at the Cherries he wanted De Zerbi, but couldn't get him.

The Brighton boss has continued to see his stock rise on the south coast. He led the Seagulls into Europe for the first time with his brand of football also attracting admirers. De Zerbi admitted recently that he was yet to agree a new contract with the Amex Stadium hierarchy.
"I have not decided yet what my future is," The Italian said last month. "I have the contract, but I want to speak with [owner] Tony Bloom and my club to understand their plan. Then we'll take the decision together."

I want to know what is the plan, what is the project. If I don't feel comfortable, I don't feel the right motivation, I can't stay any longer."
The next Liverpool manager will inherit a squad that could yet finish the year as Premier League winners. Several of their leading lights are ageing, the likes of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, but the club have continued to invest in players and have an abundance of quality.
