Max George worried fans after sharing a picture of his bruised and swollen eye - which he later deleted.

The Wanted singer, 35, said he had a tough week just like his favourite football team Manchester City. On Sunday, he took to his Instagram page to share a close-up picture of his injured face. His left eye was swollen and bruised and he had gauze strips covering his eyelid.

"How it feels to be a city fan. Tough week. So proud of our boys. What character," he captioned the now-deleted image. Manchester City were said to have faced unacceptable playing conditions which their manager Pep Guardiola compared to a 'punch in the face'. Mirror Online have contacted Max's representatives for comment.

At the end of March, Max took to his social media page to share a tribute to his late pal Tom Parker on the two-year anniversary of his death.

He also shared a clip from the evening, adding: "Well, it's been a while since we did this. George and Parker sleepover." He turned his phone to show Tom laughing next to him as he quipped: "Don't hump my leg in the middle of the night like you used to, right. We've got over that." Fans were left emotional following the post, as one said: "Still to this day doesn’t seem real . He was definitely a legend of his time sending you all my love." Another added: "He is missed every day, there isn't a day that goes by and we don't think about him."

Someone else commented: "Brothers for life. Sending love today and always max." A fourth shared: "Tom's departure was and always will be a hard fact to believe that it happened. It's something particularly that I never got used to. Today is a very difficult day because it is the anniversary of your physical departure from the world, but you will always be remembered."
