Arsenal confirm loan deal, Thomas Partey update and Arteta's Real Madrid trip

The international break is underway and Arsenal's stars have already jet around the globe in order to represent their nations or will take a well-earned pause from competitive action.

The Gunners have already see a weekend without any fixtures as FA Cup action took place and the north London side will have deliberates the best way to occupy their time in preparation for Manchester City when Premier League competition returns. Mikel Arteta's side currently sit one point ahead of the division's champions, and top the table ahead of Liverpool on goal difference.

Arsenal will have to hit the ground running if they hope to go one step better than last year and overcome Pep Guardiola's men. The next 10 days will be the final opportunity for staff to truly sit back, take stock and plan before the onslaught of the end of the season.

The Gunners will be keep a close eye on all of their players over the coming week or so and with that said, Mirror Football takes a look at the latest Arsenal news.

Thomas Partey update

One player not to be joining up with his international side is Thomas Partey.

The Ghana star will miss Nigeria and Uganda to continue his return from injury at Arsenal's London Colney training ground after managing just 41 minutes since August. Arteta and co have carefully managed Partey's progress and the midfielder has featured from the bench twice in March.

Ghana's FA suggested that Partey “asked to be excused from the game to gain full fitness following recent injuries". It remains to be seen whether he can build up enough fitness in that time to play a significant role against City at the end of the month.

Mikel Arteta spotted

It appears the Spanish coach has taken the opportunity to depart north London to enjoy some time in his native Spain. Arteta was a visitor at the Alfredo di Stefano Stadium as Real Madrid under-19s hosted their Atletico Madrid counterparts.

With Arteta in the stands, he was able to observe the work of former Liverpool stars Fernando Torres and Alvaro Arbeloa who led Atletico and Real respectively. Torres came away victorious with a 2-0 victory.

Areteta took pictures outside of the stadium with supporters. He did not however offer any response when reporters asked him why Kylian Mbappe would not sign for Arsenal, at Madrid’s Valdebebas training complex.

The Premier League transfer window may have long since closed but Arsenal's academy has seen some movement.

Goalkeeper Brian Okonkwo, brother of Gunners stopper Arthur who is on loan at Wrexham, is set to enjoy some time away from the club. The 18-year-old has joined Isthmian Premier League side Cheshunt on a work experience loan for the remainder of the season.

The teenager will continue to train with the Gunners and fulfill match duties with the non-league side to continue his progression. Okonkwo has already enjoyed stints with Hitchin Town and Leatherhead previously.
