A Kansas City Chiefs player has shared his first impressions of pop star Taylor Swift, despite not being what he described as a member of the 'Swifties' fanbase.
The Chiefs had a great season, winning their second Super Bowl in a row and third in five years. In their latest campaign, there was more attention on the team because of Swift's relationship with tight end Travis Kelce, which became public in September 2023. Everyone connected to the team had to get used to this, and the media interest increased whenever the 34-year-old singer came to their games.
But it wasn't until the last day of 2023 that some of the Chiefs players met the Grammy Award-winning singer for the first time, including their kicker Harrison Butker. In an interview with EWTN News in Depth, the 28-year-old shared his thoughts on Swift. "I wouldn't say I'm a Swiftie," Butker started. "She was just so humble and gracious."

New England Patriots warned Mac Jones is "limited" as quarterback fined againHe also talked about how nervous he was before meeting the famous singer and they chatted about his role on the team. "She thinks that's amazing that I can kick the ball so far through the uprights," he laughed. "I was a little nervous to meet Taylor Swift... I mean, it's Taylor Swift. So maybe I am a Swiftie, if I was nervous to meet her. But it was a great experience, and I can't say enough great things about her... I hope they get married and start a family!"
Over the weekend Swift and Kelce enjoyed some downtime with one another in Los Angeles. They enjoyed a yacht ride in and around Santa Monica that came after they had a meal at Sushi Park, West Hollywood, with a "group of friends". The couple is also having some much-needed rest at the singer's Beverly Hills mansion following another gruelling yet successful NFL season and Swift finishing another leg of her Eras Tour in the Far East.
On the latest edition of the New Heights podcast, Kelce shared his thoughts on his time in Singapore when he visited the country while Swift performed there. This came a month after he flew to Sydney to support his partner while she was on tour. "It was awesome, man," he began.
"The way the whole thing was laid out it was a very controlled space and everything was blooming at the same time. It was so unique and so nice. Hot as f*** in Singapore because it's the middle of summer over there. It was like 100 degrees outside and then you have to go into this chilly, 70-degree room where they're just pumping AC into these plants.
"It was so lovely to go in there and hang out in that thing and see all the amazing plants. So yeah, got to do that. Got to see two amazing shows of the Eras Tour - the last of the leg Taylor has until she's back at it here in a couple of months."
Pondering on whether he loved Singapore or Sydney more, he added: "Ooo man, that's a tough sell. I loved them both, man. I really loved them both. I want to see more of Australia, I feel I got to see a little bit more of Singapore so I'm going to say Singapore was a little more interesting for sure. I was only in Australia for a couple hours."
