Celebrity chef James Martin and his girlfriend Louise Davies have split up after 12 years together.
The 51-year-old chef and the TV producer started dating in 2011 after meeting on the Celebrity Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? set. However, according to a spokesperson, the duo decided to go their separate ways back in December last year. The two remain friends.
News of their split comes after he was pictured looking happy and relaxed while looking at watches in Mayfair, London, with personal trainer Kim Johnson. The trainer was formerly married to businessman Arun Nayar - who was once also married to Elizabeth Hurley.
James and Louise lived in Hampshire when they were together, but the chef once said the duo had no plans to tie the knot. "No, it doesn't interest me in the slightest, mainly because I've catered for so many weddings, really," he explained to Sunday People in 2019.
"I admire people who do it, that's fine, but I'm quite happy. I don't need to spend 60 grand on a day, no, I'm more than happy thanks." Despite the two dating for over a decade, not much was known about their romance. He vowed to keep his love life out of the public eye following his break-up with Barbara Broccoli.
James Martin's fans slam TV chef for 'lowering himself' after new announcementBack in 2017, he did admit he was "happy for the first time in my life" during an appearance on Good Morning Britain. The two even ruled out having any children together as he was 'too committed to his career'. In an old interview, the star said the real reason he and Louise didn't start a family was because he was "so focused on work", and it was the "biggest low" missing out on being a dad.
"The biggest low of my career is that I've given up everything for it," he told Prima magazine back in 2020. But James had no regrets, even though his friends were "all married with kids", as he acknowledged just how hard being a parent is. "The level of commitment it requires and the choices you have to make have a huge impact," he admitted.
Before his long-term relationship with Louise, he dated James Bond producer Barbara for five years after she 'won' him at a celebrity auction in 2001. She bid £18,000 to have James cook a dinner party at her home, and in his autobiography Driven, he said they "just clicked".
Barbara showered him with fancy presents, such as Picasso's paintings, and left him starstruck when she introduced him to A-list stars. However, things came to an end when he realised there was always going to be an 'imbalance' between them. Speaking of when she tried to buy him an £180,000 Aston Martin, he said: "It was a defining moment in our relationship. Deep down, I knew there was always going to be an imbalance."
