Alice Evans has seemingly admitted she initially "didn't react well" in the wake of her split from ex-husband Ioan Gruffudd.
The English actress, 55, thanked her fans for their support on social media in the early hours of this morning (UK time), as she told her Instagram followers that she is "loving life and happy" four years on from her life being "uprooted with no warning in 2020."
Since her separation from Welsh actor Ioan, with whom she shares two children, Blackball actress Alice has been quite vocal on social media. The Vampire Diaries actress announced the end of her marriage on Twitter (X) in January 2021, telling her fans that Ioan had left their Los Angeles family home.
The ensuing split turned acrimonious, marked by Alice's candid and sometimes turbulent posts following Ioan's divorce filing two months later. Their divorce was finalised on 3rd July 2023 but their legal battle over custody of their two children, daughters, Ella, 12, and Elise, 8, is ongoing.
In August 2022, Ioan was granted a three-year restraining order against Alice. After his separation from Alice in early 2021, Ioan began dating Australian actress Bianca Wallace and the couple announced their engagement earlier this year. Last month, Bianca opened up about the early stages of her romance with Ioan and being plunged into the spotlight, claiming she was bullied into revealing her multiple sclerosis diagnosis after vicious trolls taunted her about it.
Elon Musk makes history by becoming the first person in the world to lose $200bnTaking to Instagram today, Alice shared a throwback snap with her 86,800 followers and offered an update on how her life is looking post-divorce. "Getting the ‘me’ back!" Alice began as she captioned a picture of her younger self on a red carpet. "Thank you for all the love and the support."
The mum-of-two continued: "I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it. My life was uprooted with no warning in 2020. I didn’t react well. I applaud the people who do. But I’m intact. My girls are intact. Loving life and happy. I have offers coming in. Things are looking up. Thank you ALL of you that have stuck by me. I will never, ever forget."
Alice and Ioan first crossed paths on the set of 102 Dalmatians back in 1999 before walking down the aisle in 2007 and going on to welcome two children. In January 2021, Alice revealed that Ioan had decided to leave their family residence in Los Angeles.
Taking to Twitter amidst the emotional chaos of the split, the mum-of-two announced to her followers: "Sad news. My beloved husband/soulmate of 20 years, Ioan Gruffudd, has announced he is to leave his family, starting next week. Me and our young daughters girls are very confused and sad. We haven't been given a reason except that he 'no longer loves me'. I'm so sorry."
Fantastic Four actor Ioan initiated divorce proceedings in March 2021, leading to a series of legal disputes that included a restraining order he filed against Alice. Ioan requested to legally separate from Alice on 18th May 2023, with Judge Josh Freeman Stinn of the LA Superior Court confirming the divorce on 3rd July the same year. The minute order confirmed the judge's decision last year, stating: "The Court finds irreconcilable differences have arisen in the marriage and grants judgment for the dissolution of marriage as to status only, effective today."
