Davide Sanclimenti has opened up about the aftermath of his separation from Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, with the former islander having shared how he now feels about "single life".
It was announced in January that the former couple, both 29 - who met on Love Island back in 2022 - had split up. Ekin-Su shared the news on social media initially, before Davide confirmed their separation in his own statement.
The news came just weeks prior to Ekin-Su entering Celebrity Big Brother. She referenced the break-up whilst in the Big Brother house, prior to her eviction last week. Her ex-partner Davide has now also spoken about the situation.
He was asked about being single whilst on the latest episode of the Chloe vs the World podcast. Davide spoke to host Chloe Burrows, 28. At one point in the episode, he told her that he went to Dubai recently and came back his "best self".
Chloe went on to ask: "How is single life?" Davide said: "At the beginning I didn't like because I like to have a person. A person I love and a person [to] love me back." Chloe responded: "Aww that was really sweet." He told her: "It's true. But then I feel like now it was the right thing to do. Everything happens for a reason. My destiny is written. So I don't get upset anymore about nothing."

Davide also revealed that he had "wanted" to do spin-off Love Island: All Stars earlier this year, which saw former islanders return for "a second chance at finding love". He told Chloe: "I wanted to go in there but I was too fresh with Ekin, I didn't feel it y'know." Asked if he would consider it in the future, he said: "Yeah, if I'm single, yeah probably."

She wrote in a statement at the time: "The last 18 months have been a rollercoaster of ups and downs, just like every relationship. Davide and I both wanted to make this relationship work as we cared deeply for each other."
She continued: "Unfortunately, I have recently made the decision to end our relationship and to go our separate ways. Breakups are never easy for any couple, and we hope that our privacy will be respected at this time. I enjoyed our time together and will cherish the memories we made."
Davide later issued a statement himself, saying: "Life sometimes reserves surprises and suddenly wakes you up... Ekin and I, just after the ski holidays, decided to go different ways. It was a joint decision, but I was waiting to make it public to respect her time in the show. I don't know why the agreed statement changed last minute.
"I agree, it was a beautiful story even with its ups and downs like all couples. I loved every moment, from the first time I knew her in the Villa until life outside. I really believed in us and saw a future for us. But sometimes in life people need to grow apart. Is just the direction of life. I will treasure our moments forever. Now it's time to focus on myself."
The former couple both took the opportunity in their posts to express gratitude over their fans. This included Ekin-Su sharing hope that they will continue to follow her and Davide's careers as they go off in their "own directions".
